Soaps & detergents: Used is production of potassium soaps and detergents
Television Tubes: Used in specialty glass like television tubes
Textile printing: It is used in textile printing and dyes & pigments
Fire extinguisher: Used in fire extinguisher powders
Potassium Phosphates: It is used in manufacture of potassium phosphates and hence in liquid fertilisers
Biodiesel: Potassium hydroxide is used in manufacture of biodiesel. Glycerin from this biodiesel is used as an inexpensive food supplement for livestock
Disinfection: Owing to its corrosive properties, it is used in disinfecting and cleaning surfaces
Fungi Classification: KOH is used in classification of certain types of fungi and mushrooms
Pre-shave & shaving creams: certain pre-shave products and shaving creams also use KOH to make Potassium soaps of fatty acids
Petroleum refineries: KOH is used in refineries for removal of organic acids and sulfur compounds
